Title :
Performance evaluation of QOS for VBR video in ATM environment
Author_Institution :

Abstract :
Quality of service (QOS) in terms of information loss and delay at the user level for variable bit rate (VBR) video in ATM environment is studied. Attention is devoted to the performance characteristics for the traffic stream from an individual VBR video source as it passes an ATM network with different background traffic conditions. The effects of functions performed in the ATM adaptation layer (AAL) which maps the user information into ATM cells are also considered. The statistics of loss and delay at the user level are discussed
