An object-oriented GDMO tool for network management

ISO Structure of Management Information (SMI) standard is a critical component in the design of managed object class definition. The predefined templates of SMI provide a means to define managed object class in a common and consistent format. In addition, a class definer should also strive to identify and re-use definitions that had been previously defined elsewhere. Thus, tools are needed to ease the burden of managed object class definers and help to create and maintain these class definitions. This paper presents the design and implementation of a GDMO browser. The GDMO tool provides not only traditional views of the system such as cross referencing information and metrics but also management views such as the inheritance, registration and containment trees
