Abstract
Simulation is undertaken to study the reliability of the transfer at the burst and cell levels for a virtual connection in an ATM network which is modelled as a tandem queueing network. Attention is focussed on a designated traffic stream as it goes through the tandem queueing network. Cell loss probability and high order distributions of cell loss such as cell loss-free run distribution and cell loss pattern distribution are obtained. These results present some information needed for estimation of end-to-end overall quality of service (QOS)
