Abstract :
Wireless sensor networks are ideal for monitoring environmental conditions, but typical nodes are limited by their short transmission range. This paper presents a long-range node with a tested range of 13.2 km. A novel radio propagation model is presented, which has been experimentally verified. This paper also presents a unique method to determining the number of multipath reflections in a suburban environment.
