Abstract :
In multicarrier systems such as orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), communication quality deteriorates by interblock interference if channel impulse response is longer than cyclic prefix length. It is well-known that channel shortening method that uses time-domain equalizer (TEQ) is effective for that case, and there have been already some algorithms like multicarrier equalization by restoration of redundancy (MERRY), RLS-MERRY, and multistage MERRY. In this paper, we propose an improved channel-shortening method for TEQ which can be regarded as a combination of RLS adaptive filtering and multistage MERRY.
