Abstract :
The analysis of remotely sensed image data, that have been acquired during the SLR-C/X-SAR mission in October 1994 over Ruegen island, Germany, together with the application of a backscattering inversion technique for the retrieval of the soil water content is shown. The results are in agreement with the modeled soil water content and the RMS surface roughness (standard deviation of surface height), if compared to reference data from maps and field measurements. This way a spatial derivation of soil moisture information is possible
