Design and analysis of application benchmark for enterprise server evaluation

Server evaluation in an enterprise environment is important but technically demanding. An application benchmark based on a tailored enterprise application system is described in this paper. The real workload set gives better production relevance and more focus on customer´s requirement, leading to a more practical evaluation of enterprise server. Detailed analysis is made on the design and implementation of the application benchmark, and compared with industry standard benchmarks, to illustrate the pro and con of two approaches. A conclusion is given on the design of application benchmark, and future work is outlined to meet the challenges of the new technology.
