A Bibliometric and Comparative Study on the Papers in ISLS of Mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong in the Last Ten Years Based on the SSCI Database

Based on bibliometric methods, the article makes a comparative study on the papers published by the scholars of Mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong in 66 foreign periodicals in the field of Information Science & Library Science (ISLS) included in Social Sciences Citation Index from 2000 to 2010, in order to grasp the current research situation of three areas. A series of quantitative analysis has been made from the aspects of publications, periodicals, affiliations, cooperation, citations and so on. The result of the research shows: Average annual growth rates of research output of three areas are more than the world´s in the last ten years, Mainland and Taiwan especially. The papers of Taiwan and Hong Kong which have an important proportion in the world make a great impact, whereas the quality of papers of Mainland should be improved.
