Abstract :
Summary form only given. We have developed a user-friendly model for the numerical solution of the Boltzmann equation for electrons in weakly ionized gases and in steady-state, uniform fields. This model runs on a PC or an HP workstation and it is available through ftp. This code (BOLSIG) is distributed with a library of cross section data in 15 gases. The main purpose of this model is to determine, over a wide range of values of E/N, electron transport and rate coefficients in gases and gas mixtures for use with the SIGLO series of discharge modeling software (fluid and hybrid fluid-particle models). This code does not include options for e-beam sources, coulomb collisions, or superelastic collisions; a Boltzmann solver which does include these and other options is commercially available through Kinema Software.
