Abstract :
Compared with general steel wire rope, the non-rotating rope incurs more inner broken-wires damage, which makes the damage detection difficult. This paper analyzes the causes of the broken-wires damage in non-rotating rope by creating a geometric model. A new method based on support vector machine (SVM) for the detection of the wires damage in non-rotating rope has been proposed, and experimental results show that SVM performs well in the identification of damage.
