Abstract :
The quantum efficiency measurement provides an important information of the solar cell performance. In this paper we report on the extension of the external quantum efficiency measurement to near-infrared range. It is necessary to characterize the effect of up-converter layers on the rear of bifacial silicon solar cells, which can enhance the performance of solar cells as they have the ability to condition the solar spectrum, thus suiting the semiconductor bandgap better. The main issue for that measurements that the signals we want to detect are very small, an effort has been made to enhance the signal-to-noise ratio by using a low noise pre-amplifier, optimizing the power of the lamp and reducing the chopper frequency.
