Abstract :
On October 2006 REE (Red Electrica de Espantildea), one of Gamesapsilas major markets, publishes a new code version with new requirements regarding voltage ride through capabilities. All new wind turbines installed from January 2008 on must fulfill this last version of the grid code. This issue becomes during 2007 a clear target for Gamesa: to get certification for this grid code. One of the determining active elements in this certification is the converter. DAC (dip active converter) is the first self-made converter in Gamesa. For this converter the development process is presented: all the way from the first steps of the design to the final certification. Special emphasize is done in the development of the simulation model which follows a parallel process to the converter.
