Abstract
There are many analyses on the closed-loop performance for COT buck converters. But all of them assume the absence of the multiple pulsing effect, which will increase the output voltage and inductor current swing significantly, and a poor steady state performance is as a result. This paper presents a time domain analysis for COT buck converters to show the relationship between the multiple pulsing effect and the on-time. Results indicate a minimum limit for the on-time that can avoid the multiple pulsing effect, and consequently the maximum frequency with good steady state performance can be found.
