Abstract :
To enable safe, economical and environmentally acceptable solutions for improving oil and gas recovery from mature fields and for exploitation of deep and ultra-deep offshore reservoirs, new downhole technologies are required. Electrification of downhole applications has proven to be promising. This paper presents electrical machine in currently available or emerging downhole applications and their advantages. Permanent magnet machines are the trend for downhole applications.
