Abstract :
The excitation and emission spectra of several thermographic phosphors, europium-doped yttrium oxide (Y2O3:Eu 3+), europium-doped yttrium vanadate (YVO4: Eu3+), europium-doped barium phosphate (Ba3(PO4)2: Eu2+), gadolinium-doped yttrium oxide (Y2O3: Gd), and praseodymium-doped yttrium oxysulfide (Y2O2S: Pr), have been measured as a function of temperature. The charge transfer (C-T) absorption bands for each phosphor were studied for spectral shifts and broadening. Of these particular thermophosphors, europium-doped yttrium oxide, europium-doped yttrium vanadate, and europium-doped barium phosphate show significant change in absorption band spectral position and broadening at elevated temperatures
