Abstract
A technique for estimating ice temperature in the Arctic seasonal ice zone from passive microwave radiances has been developed. The algorithm relies on ice concentration and type estimates from a thin ice algorithm to estimate the surface emissivity. Preliminary results have been compared favorably with temperature estimates derived from AVHRR imagery of the Bering Strait
