Abstract
Interior Permanent Magnet (IPM) motor has high efficiency and large torque because the motor utilizes both magnet torque and reluctance torque depending on magnetic saliency. Most common methods used in control of IPM motor are current vector control and Direct Torque Control (DTC). However, it is too difficult to simulation these control methods including nonlinearity and space harmonics. In this paper, a nonlinear magnetic circuit model of the IPM motor considering space harmonics with current vector control and/or DTC is simulated and the two control methods are compared in the simulations.
