Abstract
The increasing growth in the number of wireless cellular networks is not negligible to no one. With respect to this great increment, service providers should be able to serve all the subscribers with reasonable quality of service (QoS). It should be considered that different users, request various services which have different requirements, for example delay-sensitive and non-delay-sensitive services. In order to provide all the requirements, researchers have proposed new methods. In a number of methods, bandwidth degradation schemes have been suggested to limit the dropping rate of delay-sensitive requests by the degradation of the assigned bandwidth to the active connections. In this paper, one of these schemes is analyzed and its properties are carefully verified. Also, a measure is proposed to explain the cost of bandwidth degradation scheme. It is described that the cost of the bandwidth degradation scheme should be less than the cost of undesirable dropping in the cells, in order to employ bandwidth degradation schemes efficiently.
