Abstract :
In this contribution, the comparison between two different fusion approaches for a train-borne location system is presented. It consists of an eddy current sensor device providing the train velocity and a Global Navigation Satellite System delivering the absolute position. Fusion approach 1 is based on a polar coordinate system model, whereas fusion approach 2 uses two cartesian system models with the ability to switch between these models. Special attention is devoted to the behaviour of the fusion approaches during GNSS sensor failures due to satellite shadowing or tunnels
