Abstract :
This paper views the problem of extended target detection as that of detection based on multi-observations, and points out that extended target detection for single pulse is similar to multi-pulses detection for low resolution radar. The only difference between them is that the latter is a process of accumulation along time (from pulse to pulse), while the former is the one along range (from cell to cell). By the virtue of the well developed theory of low resolution radar detection, the paper gives the conditions for which existing extended target detectors are suited. The performances of the detectors are compared. Thus, the domain of detection is extended from space (range) to frequency, and a HRR detector for multiple pulse is presented
