Abstract
Summary form only given. The BLOB method is a new approach to particle simulation of kinetic plasmas, based on computational particles with variable size (blobs). Descriptors of the shape and size of the blobs are added to the usual PIC description, obtaining better accuracy for a given number of computational particles. In the present communication, a review of the current status of the BLOB method is presented.
