Abstract :
It is noted that for complex systems such as the Integrated Communication Navigation Identification Avionics (ICNIA), the use of a simulation for the architecture greatly aids the independent analysis of the system. The development of the simulation achieves two tasks: first, it verifies that the documentation delivered on the project adequately describes the system, and second, it provides a very useful tool for exploring the capabilities and limitations of the system as designed. Ball Systems Engineering Division has developed a detailed event simulation of the ICNIA architecture as part of the independent software validation (ISV) of the AFWAL/AAAI ICNIA project. The authors describe the simulation and the data it provides on the operational real-time characteristics of ICNIA. Simulation data generated for the US Army version of ICNIA are presented
