Abstract :
Studying on electromagnetic scattering by particles plays an important role in atmosphere monitoring, space remote sensing and some other fields. Scattering by a homogeneous sphere located in a 2D Gaussian beam is discussed in the paper. Expansions of cylindrical vector wave functions in terms of spherical ones are introduced simply. With the expansions, the beam coefficients in a spherical coordinates are obtained from the forms in cylindrical coordinates. For a homogeneous sphere, scattering coefficients in generalized Lorenz Mie theory are deduced in detail. According to the formula of scattering coefficients, scattering characteristic of a sphere in a 2D Gaussian beam can be analyzed.
