Abstract
A longitudinally inhomogeneous waveguide (LIW) with rectangular cross section is analyzed using equivalent circuit method. The reflection and transmission characteristics of the waveguide are studied and verified. The profile of the dielectric constant is chosen to be in sine form along the transmission direction though it can be arbitrary shape for actual implementation. Numerical results are given for various parameters concerned with the profile. These results are helpful for the design of rectangular waveguide filters. And the method can be applied for other LIWs with arbitrary cross sections.
