  • Abstract
A breadboard 250 kW external integral starter/generator (EIS/G) has been developed. This system uses a switched reluctance machine and two 125 kW inverter/converter units (ICUs) to develop two separate and independent 270 Vdc output power busses. This paper describes the results of research to develop a 125 kW MCT based ICU for the breadboard EIS/G system. It reviews previous results and presents new results for an upgraded 125 kW ICU design employing second generation MCT modules. These second generation MCT modules were developed under the Power Electronics Building Block (PEBB) program. The design issues addressed to develop the MCT ICU are described as well as the final design. Experimental results for the MCT based ICU are presented
