Abstract :
A unique distributed architecture for digital simulations is described that is based on the Ada language and relies on many of its unique features. The architecture is object-oriented, modeling a group of simulated objects as they interact under a given scenario. The individual objects are simulated as a collection of subsystem models, which are assembled from a library of such models. Subsystem models can be distributed across a group of networked computers with the aid of a configuration program. The simulation is controlled by a simulation executive which is also distributed. This executive mediates the iteration of the individual models and maintains a common database. The goal of this architecture is to facilitate the generation of complex object-oriented simulations on multiple computers while maintaining the efficiency and maintainability of simpler systems
