Defects and Improvement of 5S Implementation in the Workshop of MTO Electronic Assembly Industry at the Pearl River Delta Economic Zone

Although 5S is an effective approach for enterprise management, perfect implementation of the management approach needs more efforts. The paper presents discussions about defects found in 5S implementation based on investigations carried out in workshops of three make-to-order (MTO) electronic assembly companies located at the Pearl River Delta Economic Zone in China. Aiming at the defects, the paper proposes specific measures to improve 5S implementation, which could be used as a reference to improve on-site management in the MTO electronic assembly industry and some other similar industries in China.
