Abstract :
The pull-out frequency of a 2nd-order Type II Phase Lock Loop (PLL) is a very important parameter in many applications. It quantifies the ability of a phased-locked PLL to track an abrupt jump at the input reference frequency. This parameter also gives a qualitative idea about the convergence region of the PLL without a cycle-slip. This paper compares the pull-out frequency of two different kinds of 2nd-order Type II PLLs, one employing a sinusoidal phase detector (PD) and the other a triangular PD.
