Abstract :
This paper deals with the problem of adding and placing phasor measurement units (PMU) to achieve power system observability. A new algorithm that minimizes the number of added PMUs with minimum number of channels is proposed. The proposed algorithm is tested using different power systems. The solution provided by the algorithm outperforms existing algorithms in terms of number of PMU channels required for system observability.
