Abstract :
The defensive problem encountered by the strategic manned bomber is characterized as real-time, expertise intensive, dynamic, and noisy. The strategic airborne defensive problem is outlined as the requirements for an intelligent system, with the capability to detect, identify, and counter `enemy´ threats. A knowledge-based architecture and a technical approach to solve it are discussed
