Abstract
Peer-to-peer overlay is vulnerable to distributed denial of service (DDoS) because of its characteristics such as openness, dynamics. Existing solutions are designed for a network-layer but overlay. A novel distributed method based on peer level model to inhibit DDoS attack is presented. Level model which can identify malicious nodes collects four factors which involve a twofold content including behaviors of the current peer and the network status around it to evaluate level value by uncertain inference. The data on each peer are categorized by linear classifier and then discarded according to transmission rate which is determined by level value. Simulation experiment indicates this method could inhibit DDoS attack and enhance resilience of P2P overlay.
