Abstract :
A new technique of using digital filters for identifying the locations of hot spots in proteins is proposed. The technique involves the design of a special digital filter that would select the characteristic frequency of interest. The energy of the filter output yields the locations of the hot spots. The new technique is as accurate as a transform-based technique but requires considerably less computation due to the use of a low-order IIR filter for the necessary processing
