Abstract :
With the advent of smart, miniaturized low cost and highly versatile electronic motor controls, a number of new motor technologies are now available for a wide range of applications. The switched reluctance motor-drive package is one such technology that is emerging as a potential workhorse over a large horsepower and speed range. This paper provides an overview of the switched reluctance motor-drive including construction, performance, reliability, and application considerations.
