Title :
Computerized maintenance systems-an overview of two basic types for field devices
Abstract :
This paper discusses two types of computerized maintenance management systems-database/calibrator systems and database/calibrator/online systems. Both systems utilize a computer database of field devices in conjunction with smart calibrators. The online system also includes digital communication with the field devices via a hand held communicator, a distributed control system, a PLC, or personal computer allowing for configuration and diagnostic information transfer, thus the term "online".
