Abstract :
A novel sequentially decoding algorithm is introduced for differential detection. The algorithm is based on the exact noise statistics of the noncoherently detected signal. Evaluation of the decoder for a trellis-coded scheme indicated gains up to 1.7 dB compared to conventional detection strategies
