Abstract
This paper presents a new architecture for combining OSI management protocol (CMIP) and the Internet management protocol (SNMP) in order to manage both OSI networks and IP networks. A comparison between both management protocols is presented also shows how CMIP can run over the TCP/UDP/IP stack (CMOT), and how SNMP can run over the OSI stack. Finally a new layer between the management protocols and the underlying stacks (Internet and OSI) is presented to provide CMIP and SNMP, with the availability to run over either OSI or TCP/UDP/IP stacks
