Abstract :
Computer-aided methods for use in irregular terrain have been developed over the last several years to improve the accuracy of RF predictions. The authors consider point-to-point methods that use the actual terrain profile to compute path loss, considering single- or multi-edged knife diffraction. A comparison was made of field test data acquired at 450 MHz in Los Angeles County, California, with predictions from several different point-to-point computer-aided radio propagation loss models. The comparison shows a considerable variation in model accuracy
