Abstract :
This study makes use of airborne weather radar observations of oceanic tropical rainshowers to evaluate the contributions of the rain, the raindrop splashes, and the sea surface to the total backscatter at the sea surface in the presence of rain. A simple empirical model is proposed that can estimate the backscatter from raindrop splashes
