Abstract :
Among the most important features of a cellular communication system is its capability for serving each mobile station with appropriate quality regardless of the location of the vehicle. This requires adequate hand-off procedures for transferring in-course calls from one base station to another. The use of forecasting techniques is introduced so that a good hand-over can be expected. Different forecasting methods have been considered taking into account parameters such as memory size requirements, convenient weighting factors, and method applicability. Field strength level profiles reported in the open literature are considered and application results included effects on number of hand-overs are presented
