Abstract :
The potential and feasibility of a personal access satellite system which will offer the user freedom and mobility are being explored. The authors define the system concept and applications, present a strawman design, and identify the enabling technologies. The system as currently conceived could provide voice and data services to users in the contiguous US in the late 1990s to the early 2000s using the 20/30 GHz bands
