Abstract :
Mobility is introduced as a new measure that influences protocol performance and makes clear the difference between contention and channel assignment systems. The first are suited for systems with stations of very high mobility whereas the latter fit for static systems. The CSAP radio channel access protocol, that permits fast channel reassignment after collisions of data packets, is proposed. The performance analysis shows that CSAP is well suited for mobile packet radio networks. New channels are assigned fast enough to achieve high throughput
