  • Abstract
    This paper describes the new PWM (pulse width modulation) and PFC (power factor correction) circuit for a home appliance inverter system, especially inverter type air conditioners, washers and refrigerators by all-digital circuits which are very easy to be embedded within one 8 bit microprocessor. It is more cost effective as well as easier to apply than the previous inverter system operated by analog IC. We could remove more than 30 passive components as well as generate an input sine current waveform easily. It has only a twentieth control power consumption of the previous system. We used various computer aided design tools to develop the logic. The logic was tested by PLD (Programmable Logic Device)
