Abstract
Soil moisture information is used in physically-based spatially distributed hydrological modeling to determine infiltration. Active microwave remotely sensed images are a relatively new data source that may provide hydrologists and soil scientists with the possibility of mapping soil moisture accurately at the watershed scale. The paper explores the feasibility of using pasture fields as index fields in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery for soil moisture mapping
