Abstract

Ashtech XII, the all-in-one, all-in-view GPS (global positioning system) receiver is introduced. The term all-in-one denotes that navigation, survey, and time transfer capabilities are all combined in one receiver. Furthermore, for survey applications the required equipment all fits in one small carrying case. The all-in-view term denotes that the receiver can track all the satellites in view, even when the 24-satellite constellation is complete and the existing healthy satellites are operational. The architecture of the Ashtech XII technology is presented, and automatic operation of the receiver is discussed
