Abstract :
Many engineers all over the world are developing white LEDs. LED packaging uses normal transparent epoxy resin. But white LEDs produce UV light from the blue LED element. Normal transparent epoxy resin is discolored by this UV light and it is difficult to preserve the white color for a long time after packaging. Firstly, we have developed a special transparent epoxy resin to preserve the white LED by improving the epoxy chemical structure. We obtained very good results after humidity evaluation (60/spl deg/C/85%/300 hrs/20 mA). Normal transparent epoxy resin discolors under these evaluation conditions. Secondly, we developed a high-density packaging technology using VPES/spl trade/ (vacuum printing encapsulation systems). Our white LED can be used in lighting applications instead of fluorescent lamps and also general lighting and traffic signals. This light is very good for environmental conservation in the world.
