Abstract
AI-TEST is an expert system for functional fault detection and isolation in electronic equipment. Its main features include probabilistic diagnostic assessment and effective management of the testing process, including goal-oriented test evaluation and selection. Together with detailed documentation of the unit under test (UUT), AI-TEST essentially provides an intelligent electronic service manual that guides the user through the diagnostic process. Preliminary experience with AI-TEST for troubleshooting a dot-matrix printer is reported. Implementation issues are also discussed
