Abstract :
The development of a conveyer vehicle that reads address labels on packages and carries them to destination automatically is considered. As a first step, three problems, namely, handwritten continuous letter recognition, obstacle avoidance, and position identification are solved using a self-organizing model for pattern learning. The self-organizing model is discussed, and its applicability to the three problems is shown
