Abstract :
The dependence of microwave brightness temperature and backscatter of the sea surface as a function of wind speed is considered. The analysis is based on near-nadir radiometric measurements and VV scatterometric measurements at view angles 40-60 degree from nadir that are published in the literature. Wind exponents estimated from radiometric data agree well with scatterometric results. The maximum of wind exponents was found to be at Bragg´s wavenumber which corresponds to phase velocity minimum (Kmin≈2.8 rad/cm)
