  • Abstract
It is about time that digital principles are taught before analog concepts. This argument is supported by a brief review of the electrical engineering, computer engineering and computer science curricula to put the issue in historical context. Then current curricular experiments that are relevant to the question are presented. Trends in theory and technology are next discussed. Finally the impact of technology on the undergraduate curriculum is discussed, as well as the ramification on the education of undergraduates. Finally, a suggested curriculum sequence is presented that demonstrates the value of teaching digital principles, followed by analog concepts. Obviously, this presentation is at a high level with emphasis on providing a framework to debate the issue
