Abstract :
We present a data-aided multi-symbol phase estimation scheme that improves the receiver sensitivities of direct-detection optical DQPSK and DQPSK/ASK. Sensitivity improvements of 1.7dB and 1.4dB are respectively obtained for DQPSK and DQPSK/ASK in the linear-regime.
